The short version
We never receive your files. All corruption happens inside your browser using the File API and Web Crypto. No file, filename, file size or file content is transmitted to us or to any third party. There is no upload endpoint on this site.
What we do not collect
- Your files, or any part of their contents.
- Filenames, extensions, sizes or metadata.
- Accounts, email addresses or passwords, since there is no sign-up.
- Any information you have not deliberately sent us.
What is stored on your device
The site writes two values to your browser local storage, purely for convenience:
fc.theme.v2, whether you chose the light or dark appearance.fc.prefs.v1, your last-used corruption level and switch settings.
Both stay on your device, are never transmitted, and are removed if you clear your browser data. Nothing in either value describes a file you processed. These are the only values this site itself writes; the Google services described below set cookies of their own.
The contact form
If you use the contact form, the name, email address and message you type are sent to our form provider so the message can reach our inbox. That is the only place on this site where anything you enter leaves your device, and it only happens when you press send.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard web-server request logs, including IP address, timestamp, requested URL and user agent, for the pages and assets you load. These are used for security and aggregate traffic volume only and contain no information about files you corrupted, because that information never reaches a server.
Analytics and advertising
This site uses two Google services, and both set cookies in your browser:
- Google Analytics 4 records which pages are viewed, along with the approximate location derived from your IP address, your device type and your browser. It is used to understand which tools people actually need.
- Google AdSense serves the advertising that keeps these tools free. It may use cookies to personalise the advertising you see, including on the basis of your activity on other websites.
You can review and change what Google collects for advertising at Google Ad Settings, and both services are covered by how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Browser privacy controls and ad blockers stop both, and every tool on this site keeps working when they are blocked.
Neither service can see your files. Corruption runs entirely in page memory and there is no upload endpoint on this site, so there is nothing for a third-party script to observe or transmit. The live network check on the home page reports precisely which requests the page makes, these tags included.
Third-party resources
Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google servers containing your IP address and user agent, as it does for any site using that service. Beyond that and the two services above, no third-party resource is involved in corrupting a file.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is generally nothing for us to export or delete. If you have emailed us, you can ask us to delete that correspondence at any time.
