Warum sich YAML-Dateien nur schwer richtig beschädigen lassen
YAML is whitespace-significant, which makes it unusually fragile in production and unusually interesting to test. A single wrong indent changes the meaning of a document rather than breaking it, so config loaders that do not validate strictly can silently run with the wrong settings.

- Indentation. Leading whitespace is overwritten, collapsing the nesting that gives YAML its structure.
- Key/value separators. Colons and dashes are destroyed, so mappings and sequences no longer parse.
- Document markers. The
---separators that divide multi-document files are broken up. - Encoding validity. Invalid UTF-8 sequences cause a failure before the parser reaches the grammar.

Why is YAML corruption worth testing?
Because whitespace damage can change meaning instead of causing an error. A loader that does not validate strictly may start with subtly wrong settings, which is far worse than a clean failure.
Will it break multi-document files?
Yes. The --- separators are among the structures destroyed, so documents run together.
Does it work on .yml as well as .yaml?
Yes. Both extensions use the same profile.
Can I get a file that parses but is wrong?
Light level sometimes produces this, but it is not guaranteed. Corruption is random rather than semantically targeted.
