Corrupt your APK file
Tuned for .apk, .aab, .xapk, and works with every other format too.
Why APK files are hard to corrupt properly
An APK is a ZIP archive containing a compiled manifest, DEX bytecode and resources, plus a signature block that Android verifies before installing. Because installation validates both the archive structure and the signature, a corrupted APK fails at a very early and very visible stage.
What this tool destroys
- The ZIP container. Local file headers, the central directory and the EOCD record are all destroyed.
- AndroidManifest.xml. The compiled binary manifest declaring the package name, permissions and entry activity becomes unreachable.
- classes.dex. The DEX bytecode entries lose their headers, so nothing can be verified or loaded.
- The signing block. The APK Signature Scheme block sitting before the central directory is destroyed, so verification fails outright.
What you will see afterwards
| Application | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Android install | "App not installed" or "There was a problem parsing the package." |
adb install | INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NOT_APK or a signature verification failure. |
| Google Play Console | Rejects the upload as an invalid package. |
| APK analysis tools | jadx and apktool fail to open the archive. |
Common reasons people do this
- Testing that a sideloading or MDM flow rejects invalid packages.
- Verifying an app distribution portal validates uploads before publishing.
- Checking that a download-and-install pipeline detects a truncated transfer.
- Producing malformed packages for a mobile security analysis exercise.
How to corrupt a APK file
- Drop your .apk file onto the box above, or click to browse.
- Leave the level on Standard unless you want partial damage (Light) or need to defeat recovery software (Heavy).
- Press Corrupt file. Processing happens on your device, so it finishes almost immediately.
- Download the result. It keeps the original filename and byte length by default.
APK FAQ
Why does Android say "parsing the package"?
Because the installer reads the ZIP structure and the compiled manifest before anything else. Both are destroyed, so it fails at the parse stage rather than at install.
Does it break the signature?
Yes. The signing block sits inside the archive and is destroyed with it, so signature verification fails even if a parser somehow got that far.
Does it work on AAB bundles?
Yes. Android App Bundles are also ZIP containers and use the same profile.
Can I still inspect it with apktool?
No. Without a readable archive index there is nothing for apktool or jadx to decode.
