Corruption cannot be undone

This tool permanently destroys the structure of the copy it produces. There is no repair function, no recovery service and no hidden backup. Once you have downloaded a corrupted file and lost the original, the contents are gone. Keep an untouched copy of anything that matters before you begin.

Your original file is not modified

The corruption is applied to a copy held in your browser memory and offered to you as a download. The file you selected on disk is read but never written to. That said, if you save the download over the top of the original, that is on you.

Results vary by format and application

We target the structures that parsers depend on, and for the formats with dedicated profiles the result is highly reliable. But applications differ in how tolerant they are, and some may behave differently than described. Nothing here is a guarantee about a specific file in a specific version of a specific program.

Academic and professional integrity

We know some people arrive here looking to buy time on a deadline. We are not going to pretend that use does not exist, but we will be straightforward about it: submitting a deliberately corrupted file as completed work is dishonest, and it usually does not work. Modern learning management systems record upload timestamps and file hashes, and many institutions have seen this exact tactic many times. If it is discovered, the penalty for academic dishonesty is normally far more serious than a late submission would have been.

If you are genuinely stuck, asking for an extension is a better plan and a much shorter conversation. Use of this tool in breach of your institution or employer policies is entirely at your own risk and is not something we endorse or support.
