Code & Data File Corrupter Tools

Text-based formats have no header to destroy, so scrambling characters just produces different text. These tools inject byte sequences that are not valid UTF-8 at all, so the file stops being decodable rather than merely reading as nonsense, which is what makes a parser fail the way real corruption does.

Each tool at a glance

  • JSON Corrupter .json, .jsonl, .geojson
Structural characters. Braces, brackets, commas and quotes are overwritten, so the document can no longer be balanced.
  • XML Corrupter .xml, .xsd, .rss, .plist
The XML declaration. The opening <?xml version…?> processing instruction is destroyed, so encoding and version cannot be established.
  • HTML Corrupter .html, .htm, .xhtml
Character encoding. Invalid UTF-8 sequences are injected, so the browser's decoder produces replacement characters across the document.
  • CSV Corrupter .csv, .tsv
Delimiter structure. Commas and line breaks are overwritten, so rows no longer split into a consistent number of columns.
  • SQL Dump Corrupter .sql, .dump
Statement terminators. Semicolons and line breaks are overwritten, so statements run together into unparseable input.
  • YAML Corrupter .yaml, .yml
Indentation. Leading whitespace is overwritten, collapsing the nesting that gives YAML its structure.
  • Markdown Corrupter .md, .markdown, .mdx
Character encoding. Invalid UTF-8 sequences are injected throughout, so the file fails to decode as text.

About these code & data tools

Every tool listed here runs the same engine. The dedicated pages exist because each format fails differently and it is worth knowing what to expect, which application shows which error, whether a repair feature will rescue the file, and what survives at each damage level.

What they have in common

  • Nothing is uploaded. Every byte is processed in your browser.
  • No size limit. Files are handled in 8 MB slices.
  • The output looks normal. Same filename, byte length and MIME type.
  • Four damage levels. From partial damage to cryptographic noise.
