Why ODP files are hard to corrupt properly
OpenDocument Presentations bundle slides, master pages, images and embedded media into one ZIP package. Impress will often salvage a deck from a partially damaged archive, showing the slides it can still read, which makes container-level damage the only reliable approach.
What this tool destroys
- The archive index. Local file headers, the central directory and the EOCD record are all destroyed.
- content.xml. The part containing every slide, layout and text frame loses its entry header.
- Pictures/ entries. Embedded images and media stored inside the package become unreachable.
- The mimetype marker. The uncompressed ODF mimetype entry is overwritten, so the format is not detected.

Will Impress show any slides?
No. Slide content lives in content.xml inside the package, which becomes unreachable once the archive index is destroyed.
Are embedded videos affected?
Yes. Media embedded in the deck sits inside the same container and is destroyed with it.
Does the deck keep its filename?
Yes, by default. The download uses the exact original name and byte length.
Is this the same as the PPTX tool?
